A spotty woodland bug!

Taxonomic name: Halyzia sedecimguttata

UK Status: Common, found in deciduous woodland

This orange, white-spotted ladybird is found commonly in deciduous woodland - woodlands where the trees shed their leaves. They are typically 5-6mm long and have around 12-16 white spots.

These little bugs hibernate during the winter, and their diet consists mostly of mildrew that grows on leaves.

They are found all over the UK, more often in the south. I found this one pictured when it decided to take a walk on y camera tripod!
